Hi all,
Does anyone have a recommendation for a 14 day trek in Oct? We're experienced trekkers/hikers/climbers (been to Gokyo, lots of 5+ days backpacking in the Rockies, one of us has extensive snow and ice experience as well) and are looking for something a bit off the beaten path. We'd be happy to do a non-teahouse trek and are just hoping for some fantastic/varied scenery that isn't jam-packed with other trekkers. That said, we're quite open to suggestion and haven't done some of the 'classics' (e.g. Annapurna Sanctuary).

So, some favorites for our time frame?

The Annapurna Sanctuary is definitely an option, and 12 days will give you the time to do it at leasure, maybe spend a day in Ghandruk and one or two other villages around there, or maybe come back via Jinhu Danda and enjoy the hot pools there.

The other option is to to the Besi Shahar to Jomsom portion of the AC. That would be probably my number one, if you have not been there and have not crossed the Thorung La. You can do that in 12 days. You then fly out of Jomsom, or even use vehicular transport to make it to Beni in a day or so.

The Marsiangdy side of the AC is not yet beset by roads or vehicles and it is awesome. Soon it might turn into what the Kali Gandaki is like... So do it while you are not overtaken by motorcyles or 4wd. Which means do it now. It's awesome.

The Machhapuchre trail has just been recognized by the Trekking Agents Association of Nepal..this can be good and interesting for you..this lies in Annapurna Region as well..
