Hi,

My boyfriend and I are planning to go to Nepal next October to do the Annapurna Circuit. The thing is, we would like to climb a trekking peak as well while we are in the Himalayas. I have already climbed Island Peak and we've both climbed Aconcagua in Argentina so we were hoping to do something like Lobuche Peak. Is it feasible? or are there any other peaks any one could recommend? We aren't 'experienced climbers' or anything but be both climb most weekends and we've been to altitude more than once and for long periods. Is Lobuche peak really far from the Annapurna Circuit? sorry about my cluelessness!
Thanks

Lobuche is in the Everest region, which is certainly a long way from Annapurna. I looked at doing Lobuche when planning for my upcoming visit, but I've never been at high altitude before so I settled for the Everest Base Camp trek instead. Most of the trekking companies in KTM will tell you that experience is unnecesary to climb Lobuche, but I think this is a bit of a scam. I gather that it is one of the most technical of the so-called trekking peaks, but my guess is that with your climbing experience it is certainly feasible.
