Are crampons necessary to cross the Tholung La?

If you cross Thorong La in the normal trecking season (end of march to June, end of sept to the middle of dec. ) crampons are absolutely useless.

if you are planning to cross in a winterexpedition snow sandals or -shoes would be the better choice.
