IMJA TSE from Late Dec 08 / Early Jan 09

Hi there,

Looking to join / arrange a small group (3 - 5 people) to summit Imja Tse (Island Peak) with, around 25 DEC 08.. Will be arranging permit / gear and guides from K from 14 Dec.

26 y/o guy from sydney. Somewhat novice - kilimanjaro, cho, gokyo ri, kala patta... looking for other young, energetic, easy going trekkers.

My rough itinerary includes: Phakding, Namche, Dingboche, Chhukung, Base Camp, Summit and Chhukung, Tengboche, Namche, Lukla - with an obvious number of rest days.

Happy to meet other trekkers with differing itineraries at Chhukung or somewhere along the trail prior.

You'd be well advised to throw in some extra days before attempting Island Peak. I would want to have been up Gokyo Ri or over the Cho La before arriving at base camp, especially in December when you will want to have some energy in reserve due to the relative lack of daylight and cold temperatures. I also wouldn't want to sleep at high camp without having slept pretty high already as you will have a rough night and not be as ready as you might be for summit day. If anyone acclimatises poorly or has any sort of problem then you will have no reserves when on the mountain and are asking for trouble.

Yes. I would love to do this.

I fly into KTM Dec. 1 and will be heading to the Khumbu - acclimatizing for a few weeks and then let's give it a shot.
