Footwear?

I am planning my first trek, probably to ABC. Can someone advise me as to what type of boots i will need. Please note this trek is part of a round the world trip so ideally i could use tyhe boots in other environments as well.
I have heard conflicting advice as to whether i can use a non-full-leather hiking boot such as the Meindl Air Revolution 2.0 GTX?

You will be fine with a non full leather boot. Make sure it is broken in, waterproofed and has good ankle support. You will be spending a lot of time in them so make sure they are very comfortable.
