Where is the best place to hire a guide for trekking and trekking peak in Nepal. Is it better to look for guide in Kathmandu or in smaller cities like Pokhara or Lukla? Is there some agencies that offer reasonable price over the Internet?
I would like to get a competent guide, be sure that he gets a fair share of the price I pay and make sure I get the better price!

there are too many places to hire some guides, but i've done the annapurna circuit, and been talking with a few people,, and now , if i had to go with a guide , i'll go with an independant one, because usually , they are the most experienced , and they work for themselves, so they usually do a pretty good job, that then , you can recommand them to people.
if you go with an agancy, the agent will take half the money , and your guide will be paid peanuts.....
on the treck, i met an independant guide his english was very good, he's done that job for 14 years, so he's got quite a few stories to tell, and the best of all is that he likes to talk about anything and everything.... if you want , his email adress is ramkaji@hotmail.com
