Current price guide/porter

I am in Kathmandu at the moment. Getting ready to head to EBC.
For porter and guide hired in KTM independently rather than paying agency,
what is current appropriate price to pay each of them in high season for trekking Kumbu.

Someone has suggesed 1000 rupee/day for guide, 800/day for porter. Does that sound about right range? Can' recall what i paid 3 years ago.

Sounds about right, though a good guide may demand a bit more than that in season. It also depends how many people are there in the group. I pay my guide over 1500/day but he's one of the best.

The agency I used quoted me $13 per day for the porter and $15 per day for the guide. as far as I know our porters got the full amount and the agency didnt keep any commission. They did take $10 commission though when they organised our Chitwan trip. not much really and they did such a great job for us.:)
