My name is Rica. My friends and I are planning to go to Gokyo, Cho La Pass, Kala Pattar, EBC and coming back for the Mani Rimdu Festival at Tengboche. We are looking at a 20-Days Trek (a slow & more relaxing trek). Any good trekking companies in Kathmandu or any reliable guide to be recommended? Anyone come across Monterosa Treks & Expedition? How's it? Pricing & services? Good?

Dear Yamseng,
The infamous Mani Rimdu Festival at Tengboche Monastery is on the 15th to 30th October this year. But the Grand celebration (open for public) falls on the last 3 days (28th - 30th). So, if u wanna take some interesting photos of the Mask Dance & their Blessing Ceremony, do visit the Monastery on the 28th to 30th of Oct. Do check out this site : www.tengboche.com/mani_rimdu.htm

Regards,
Rica

I have a couple of recomendations, both of which I have employed over the years. More than once.
They are both quite dependable and professional and I am sure you will have a good experience with either. One is a trekking company and the other is an independent registered guide. Both can organise full service or just offer you the guide/porter combination, or whatever you please. See contacts below.

Santaman is the independent guide, very experienced and professional - and a nice guy to boot. I have employed him 4 (four) times including this April to Gokyo:
santamn@hotmail.com

Thirdpole Adventure trekking is a reputable trekking company in Thamel, which I used twice and was happy with (Raj's email):
thirdpole@wlink.com.np

Have fun.
