You may or may not miss the monsoon. Take a gortex shell and enjoy. In most cases you can sit out the heavy rain and enjoy the rest of the day. Rather than trying to fit in flights etc why not trek in Helambu, perhaps up to Gosaikunda. This will be a short taxi ride about an hour out of Kathmandu.

I have trekked in Nepal with a male friend and on my own with 10 nepali staff with no problems. Just wear longer shorts or skirts in the warm areas and short sleeves, no bare shoulders.

Pembal15@yahoo.com can assist with guides, porters tec. I have trekked with him twice and have a third trip booked with him this October.

As for the dress code... I would not worry at all. In any of the popular trekking areas, like Annapurna, Everest-Khumbu, or Langtang, the locals are quite used by now to the wester tourists, and wearing trekking pants or even shorts is quite ok whether you are girl or a bloke.
There are those new-age type tourists who dress up in indian or neapli clothes thinking they look the part, with long skirts etc... My Nepali guide usually laughs and makes really funny jokes about them, unrepeatable on this PG rated site.
