Kathmandu bar scene?

I am staying at the Kathmandu guest house partly as I think I'll run into other trekkers etc. Where is the best trekker hang out bar in the vacinity?

I drink beer. I like good beer, I drink mostly microbrew here. RR

KGH is indeed a good place to meet other trekkers, mostly because everyone has heard of it and its easy to find. They have a noticeboard thats good for "trekker seeks partner..." messages. They have a nice open air dinning area out front, more than once I've gone for a meal on my own and when another lone diner shows up I'll ask if they are interested in company. (At home I am quite a party-pooper, but in Nepal I am much more gregarious).

As for "best bar" - I am not much of a drinker so can't advise on the best beer in town, I usually just drink bottles of Everest beer. My favourite watering hole is Sam's Bar. I know some people like Tom & Jerry's, they have pool tables but I find their music to be too loud for a relaxed drink. There are quite a few others...

I like Tom & Jerry's - good music - good vibe. Don't like the Irish bar much and haven't really been to many others.....I've heard the Blue Note is good and the new Orleans is quite nice as well.

I'll be in KTH oct 16-18 before I'm off to KP & EBC, from the east bay :) and a long way from home. I'm game, when will you be there?

There's also Pub Maya and Maya Pub. Both near KGH, one of them just opposite KC's.

Like Oli, I'm not much of a drinker, but I go there with friends and for the atmpsphere. I figured sometime ago that I am silly enough without any drug enhancement to the matter.

Completly agree with Oli - Sam's Bar... excelent place to realx, chill, meet with friends, chat with staff working there - Tyson, Jact etc.
