Can someone tell me please how long does it take (steady pace) to walk from Namchar Bazaar to Thami. Lonely Planet suggested a day walk from NB to acclimatise. Is this a long day? Thanks

about 3-4 hours from Namche Bazaar and it is a very pleasant walk, going though the villages of some famous sherpa guides. Did part of it in April when the Rhododendrons where in flower. I would say it is a long day, maybe 6 to 8 hours return. Why not stay overnight in Thame and visit the monastery up the hill??
Of course you can jog the return distance, if you are a masochist, in 3-4 hours...

I suggest to stay 2 nights in Namche (with a a daytrip to Everest View Hotel and Kumjung) and then go to Thami. If you have the time, this would be ideal. Then, on the way back from Thami, you can continue the trek up towards past Namche towards Mong La or wherever you want to go.

The other alternative, which we did this year, was to stay two nights in Namche (with a daytrip to Syangpoche) and then one night in Kumjung at 3800m. I found this very good. Ideally, given enough time, one should spend two nights below Namche (say at Phackding and Jorsale (with a small day trip around Jorsale, supposedly a fascinating area) and then move on to Namche. But few people do this...
