considering trekking.

For many years i have been fascinated with the himalayas and would dearly love to trek,i have never flown before or been abroad and i am single,but i am thinking of arranging a trek through himalayan kingdoms.Could anyone tell me what they are like to trek with and are there any better trekking companies around,and as a single person would i be welcome on their treks.
