I have a group of 3 to 4 persons travelling between March 11th to April 2nd of 2005. We probably would be most interested in a 14 to 16 day Everest Base Camp trek. We would prefer teahouses. Please forward price, itenerary, and what is included with the price.

Is it safe to travel without a guide? Are teahouses readily available in March?

Thanks for the information

Opinions vary widely about using a guide, porters etc. I prefer to trek with a local, but you can trek to EBC or Gokyo wihout a guide. Please have a look at the website below for an analysis of various options for trekking

http://www.nepal-dia.de/int__England/EV_porter/ev_porter.html

The trek is safe in terms of personal threat from other people, but it requires care in planning as altitude can be a problem. 14-16 days is a realistic timeframe allowing for acclimatization.
