The first that come to mind is spending the 7-10 days in Khumbu, somewhere between Lukla, Tengpoche Monastery, going to Thame etc. You will not be able to reach Gokyo or EBC and return in that time, unless you are a freak or a masochist (and they are not one and the same, or so I am told). However there is enough stuff to do and see, and the mountain scenery, once you reach Namche, is absolutely astounding. You can obviously reach Lukla by plane, about 35 minutes from KTD. The return ticket was a year or so ago about 190 USD.
The other option is the classinc Langtang trek. It takes about 9-10 days, some have done it in 7, and it is great. It would involve long drive, but not 10 hours.

I suggest the langtang trek.It takes definitely 8-10 days and you will have a beautiful view from tsergo ri (4800m) to Shisha pagma in Tibet.
The bus drive takes 10 hrs. to Syabrubensi but anyway all bus drives will take 7-10 hours to the starting points of several trekking routes.
The other possibility is flying to Pokhara from there to Jomosom, starting here your trekking to Kagbeni,Muktinath and back to Pokhara. It will take 8-10days.
Anyway safe trekking and Tashi de lek
