Hi,

My flight to Kathmandu is coming closer and closer so I would like to have a final clearance from anybody where is the location of the offices in Kathmandu that issue the permits to enter the ACAP? I hope the cost has not changed recently ?? ( IS it still 2000 NRp?) Is this close to Thamle like in old times? or is in the Immigration office close to the Airport?

Does anybody know when where and how to get tickets for the morning bus from Kathmandu do Besi Sahar? Can one get the tickets in advance / how?
Where does the bus to Besi Sahar leave from (an area of Kathamndu or ardress would be nice to know)?

And the final question for pople of good will. Can you say a few words abou location and summary of Red Planet Hotel? I am not looking for high standards but on the other hand it would be nice to have at least hot water to take a shower...

Thanks for any information

Hi

ACAP = Annapurna Conservation Area Program.

Price for ACAP is still 2000 rupees as far as I know, and the office is indeed where Mauro described above... The actual street is Tridevi Marg before the intersection with Jyatha, just at the entrance into Thamel "proper". Red planet Hotel is not too bad, pretty close to the notorious Kathmandu Guest House, which for me is too far away for where I want to be (but this is obviously just personal preference...). I lately prefer the hotels in Jyatha, as they are in Thamel, but also close to the city centre (e.g Kantipath and Durbar Marg), and not too far away to Durbar Square. Have a look at some links below (including Red Planet):

Hi Mauro,

thanks for your help. Do have any idea how the blue line bus operate? Is this a direct connection to Besi Sahar or it needs a transfer at Dumre? Can get the tickets near American Embassy? What are the business hoours? Do you think I make it on Friday along with getting the ACAP permit? As you know I would like to leeave for Besi Shara next day after coming in to Kathmandu.

Sorry for so many questions ...

Thanks again for your help

Best regards

Hi Yakshaver

thanks for your help . Is the rate card @ Jyatha negotiable since I am rather a budget traveller.

The problem for me is rather the transport to Besi Sahar. I know some hotels in Thamel. I stayed a couple of times in Sagarmatha Guest House. in the very Heart of Thamel close to Tukche Peak/
