Hi
I am travelling to Nepal in mid-September and I am planning to do the Annapurna circuit trek. This will be the first time I travel to Nepal or do any major trekking. I would like to do the trek independently as far as possible. Since I am travelling to Nepal alone, I would like to hire a guide or porter-guide to accompany me on the trek. Would it be advisable to reserve a guide online before I arrive in Nepal, or would it be easier to to try and find someone once I arrive in Kathmandu? If I try to find someone in Kathmandu, what is the best way to go about this?

Thanks
Dan

Hi Dan

Not sure what your onward travel plans are, but you would be better off heading to Pokhara and hiring a porter/guide from there (It's closer to Besisihar/Bhulebule than KTM). Also if you leave your extra gear in Pokhara, it will be there at the end of your trek. I did this trek last year and found a porter/guide from this website in the Recommendations, Endorsements.. page.

His name is Dipak and I can recommend him highly. His email address is
dipak_khadka123@*yahoo.com (delete the *). If you would like any more info on Dipak you can PM me.

Have a great trek.
