Daft question maybe but I am trying to decide between Gokyo Lakes – Cho La – Kala Pattar in Nov’04 and Jiri – Mera Peak – Lukla in Oct’04
I have had a look at every diary / trip report I can find and it seems that less than 50% of people on a Mera Trip actually make the summit. The World Expeditions one I am looking at should have a better chance since it has 17 day trek in to Base Camp from Jiri and 2 to 3 days spare in case of problems. I would enjoy the trek and views, whether I got to the summit or not, but….. it sounds tough if you have spent a year preparing and a 3 week trek in and don’t make it. I have tried to improve the odds by picking the best organised trip and the best time of year. And I have a year to get myself prepared.
So any comments, advice, ideas or suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Ian
