It would be a dream come true for me to do a little bit of trekking in Nepal, enough to catch a glimse of the big one would do. I would probably be heading there alone. What would be the best advice you could give me? How do I go about putting my dream into action?

Thanks for any help

Hi,

The two most popular treks are:
1. EBC Trek ... see Everest as close as a trekker can, 10-18 days
2. Annapurna Circuit ... go around the annapurna range, 16-20 days

Personally, I prefer the second one.

I find the Trailblazer books best for Nepal treks. They give lots of practical info. U should be able to plan ur trek with these books. Try the bulletin board on www.yetizone.com too.

Enjoy ... nepal treks are fun !!

cheers,
- manish

hi
Just to let you know ..
You do NOT to do Organised treks only to do these treks!

Nepal is good for going in without guides or porters! esp the 2 main ones (Everest base Camp and Annapourna )
( but I do not recommend doing it totally alone! you should at least try to link up with someone else)

My wife and I did it without guides or porters last year (we are 41 and 38) we had no problems at all (as far as losing the track etc)

we took our time, 28 days for Annapurna (and ABC) and 22 for Everest BC

I recommend doing it without porters or guides!

but its your call!

Nicole (to answer your question)
Which one did I like?

They are both very different .....
but I think Everest base camp (esp going to Gokyo 5th lake) was the better? great views!!!

They were both very special ....... go for it!
