Down Jacket

I am planning to do the EBC trek in the first week of April. Do I need to rent a down jacket. I will bring a ski shell and a fleece jacket. Do I still need a down jacket; I heard that rentables are less than desireable. Also, do they sell polarising camera lens filters in Kathmandu? How are prices, quality, etc. Also, I am an American and plan to get my visa at the airport. Any comments, suggestions, throughts about getting the visa on arrival?
