Hello everyone,
I put some pics, maps and a small report of my Everest Trek in December on my homepage:
http://www.danielweb.de (choose englisch and select "travel")
It took me from Jiri to Namche, to Kala Pattar and finally to Gokyo.
Take a look if you are interested and feel free to ask questions...
Bye
Daniel
P.S. I envy everyone who is going to Nepal soon...

Fantastic trek journal Daniel. I really enjoyed it. Very nice pics too.
Please tell us a bit about how you felt in terms of "security". Did you feel threatened at any stage during the trek, and how does the "maoists situation" look on the ground. There were various opinions expressed on this forum, and we needed someone who has been there recently. I have been in the area a year ago, and everything was ok. How is it now? By the sound of it you did not encounter any problems.

I did not felt threatened at all. I was prepared to pay the so called "donation" of 500-1000 Rp. on the Jiri-Namche part, but I did not encounter a single Maoist on the whole part. So I also got no receipt...
Only Place which was a bit spooky was Junbesi, cause it was like a ghost-town and there were maoist propaganda posters. But also no trouble there. Only trouble on the whole Jiri-Namche part were the hills ;-)
Trouble could only be if the army decides to go beyond Jiri and trekkers get somewhere in between. There was a lot of army in Jiri and then again in Lukla. But maybe its all getting better with the ceasefire anyhow...
If the situation does not change dramatically, I would recommend everyone going there. A guide is no security plus in my opinion. Some lodge owner told us, that if they would target people, they would target richer ones...and people that have a porter and guide look rich ;-)
Bye
