Get the best five season down bag you can afford. Its easy enough to cool down but if your sleeping bag is not warm enough it can be miserable.
I took a new bag on the Kanchenjunga trek that turned out to be wrongly labled and I just could not get warm even with a down jacket on.

Rich is right about the haze. But many of the high elevation-vistas (i.e.) around the pass are realtively haze free. Down low, pictures will be less of the views and more of the people and such.
I actually had some ugly problems with leeches in early and mid-May of last year. I think I actually have a couple posted at :

if you are interested in seeing.
Also some of the pictures there might give you an idea as to the clearness of the mountains and the haze and clouds of the lower elevations in April and May. I was in Nepal from mid-April until June 1 and on Annapurna from about May 1-20 (give or take).
