Can anyone tell me about the cost of organising your own trip to either Mera or Island Peak (or both) once in Nepal ?

Any outlines to cost per day or recommendations of companies/guides ?

Thanks,
Paul

Hi, check out my web site, www.dungevalley.f9.co.uk check technical info or trekking agents, lots of pictures and some ideas of costs. The more members the cheaper the trek.
Taking a guide is a good idea particularly for Island Peak as the route can alter radically each year depending on snow fall cravasses etc.

Have a good trip

Paul,

Mera and Island Peak fall under the "trekking peak" category. Our countrys rule requires that you purchase a peak permit (minimum USD 350 nett for 4 persons) and that you be accompanied by a Certified Climbing Sherpa.

When climbing Island peak, you can use the local lodges till Chukkung and then you will have to use tents for two/three days for the climbing portion. Mera Peak is a full camping trek. Hence climbing Island peak will be cheaper than Mera peak.

Its most cost effective, if there are atleast 3-4 persons in a group. For starters look up the Lonely planet book for list of recommended agencies and enquire if they have other people who are doing the trip.

Happy Climbing

Mr krisna
what do you think of there.I have feeling reading your message you and your agent Mt Manasalu Trekking adventure is one of the bad Trekking company in Kathmandu.I advice to nepaltrekker not to trek through mr krishna and his company.
