hi everyone!
after having such a great time in nepal where i did annapurna base camp trek; i am eagerly planningto do some more at the end of this year.

one of the fellow trekker recommend me to watch 'the himalaya' (caravan); and scenic beauty shown on that region was awesome...just curious if anyone has done that route, or is it too remote to travel?

I've not been there yet, but I've seen and loved that film and given this trek a fair bit of consideration.

Obviously it is not a teahouse trek - you'll need a guide & porter(s) and be reasonably self-sufficient. The permits required for Upper Dolpo are terribly expensive, but lower Dolpo and Rara Lake are more reasonable.

Access is not easy, you can fly in and out; or you have a a very long walk from Beni through Dhorpatan reserve, and perhaps a very rough 4WD to Jumla. All options are tricker than the Annapurna/Khumbu start/finish points. There are decent maps of Dolpo (Upper & Lower) and Rara, available in Thamel or online (?).

It would certainly be a challenging expedition to undertake, but for all the hassles it looks to be a wonderful area to go trekking. I so want to go to Ringmo & Phoksumdo Tal.
