Hi Wendy, are you going on your own or with a company. If you are on your own, I have a trek going up to base camp on the 29th Nov with 2 ladies, you could join us if you wish.

I have lead multiple trips up to EBC and the teahouses are very well appointed considering there location. They are primitive but most are very nice under the consideration they are basic. One thing you can always do is leave things at teahouses along the way. They are usually very safe. Bring a towel, if you plan on showering, an over rated and difficult endeavor. Two weeks without a shower is good for the soul. Take a good sleeping bag. Take a pillow case as the pillows can be a little grungy and not something you always want to put your face on. Take very little soap. You can buy the concentrated camp suds and a film canister size will last you for a good chunk of time. Locks may be advisable but very heavy, the teahouses provide locks. Remember you are miles from any road or form of transportation and the teahouses would be by passed many places, but they are safe, warm, comfortable and better than a tent on a cold rainy night. Have fun.
