I still think travellers cheques are better, as they are very very cheap compaired to the price of using an ATM in Kathmandu, if you do decide to use ATM and not take travellers cheques remember the more you use one the same charge will be applied every time so try to draw out bigger ammounts once or twice rather than small ammounts five or six times. Escher gives good advice on the tent vrs lodge topic, I recently trekked in the Langtang district, no guide or porter, and am glad I did not take a tent as the prices of a room are very cheap, £1 to £1.50 a night, but as there were hardly any other tourists we were often given the room for free as long as we ate and drank a few beers at night (irresistable after a days walking) also you could get a hot shower, but I agree with Escher, the best part is having some interaction with the local Nepalise people and tasting there food. Most lodges I stayed in supplied bedding and covers but a few did not so it is wise to take a good sleeping bag, especially at this time of year. Good luck to you, you lucky bugger
