The first week will be tough, but not impossible, especially if you start getting in shape now.

depends what u think is a moderate trek? I think also the Annapurna Circuit is possible for nearly everyone. But the Everest Region might be a bit harder.
Apart from Walking Altitude can effect everyone, also the fittest...

spencer and daniel are quite right
after the first week you should be fairly walk fit.
it should take you a couple of days to get used to carrying a pack - then if your not carrying too much you wont notice it much.
however - the sooner you start preparing the more enjoyment you will get in those hard first days on the trail.
remember there should never be any rush on the trail. its not about how fast you walk but how many hours in the day.
