both kathmandu and pokhara have atm machines, but its always good to have some traveller checks also. you never know if they work.
Renting a sleeping bag is possible and i would recommand any places, because youve got a big chance that they are already occupied by some little friends who will be glad to kuddle against a warm body.
Also try the lonly planet for nepal, it gives a lot of information.
