Bus/Taxi Besisahar

Hi People

Does anyone have an update to date price for the busfare to BesiSahar (from KTM) or the cost of a taxi to go there. Just trying to weigh up my options.

Last autumn I took a private taxi from Kathmandu to Besisahar.
I think it took around 4 hours, and cost about £40

I left Kathmandu late morning, and was trekking by mid-afternoon.

After my Annapurna Circuit I caught the local bus back in Pokhara from the Naya Pul trailhead, which was about 2 hours of complete mayhem - insane driving and incessant horn blaring.
Then a couple of days later I took the Greenline Tourist Bus back from Pokhara to Kathmandu.
The Greenline was good - cheap, and with reserved seat, and civilised stop offs every couple of hours.

Catching a taxi back from Naya Pul is no better than the bus....the drivers flick the car into neutral on the downhill stretches and it is petrifying as they hurtle down the hills not in gear. The do it to save on petrol.....I had to continually ask the guy to put the car back into gear. I said i would pay extra for the petrol....

if you go to by bus 350 rupes and if you go by car it is 5000 rupess

Thanks for the update nj. Its much appreciated, as I leave for KTM tonight and am hoping to make the trailhead ASAP.
