I did the Jomsom trek in January and had a Guide/Porter. This person will carry up to 15Kg and will act as a guide as well. This is useful as they tell you lots of useful stuff and find the best places to stay where you do not get ill. For a porter guide you pay $12-15. Im not exactly sure for a porter but its probably $5-8. If you have a porter they can carry up to 30Kg but dont expect conversation because this person may not speak English. If you want any more info about the Jomsom trek just ask. Make sure you go all the way up to Muktinath, the last bit is worth it.
